fast fertig - almost finished So, die letzte Zeit war ich mal wieder ziemlich fleissig und habe nun die heraldische cotehardie fast fertiggestellt. Nun fehlen nur noch die Schwerter well, over the last time I've been once again quite busy and have now almost finished the heraldic cotehardie. zusammengenäht / sewed together Die Streifen sind mittlerweilen angenäht und die Seitennähte sind auch genäht The stripes are sewn on in the meantime and the side seams too are sewed

Cotehardie Schon lange wollte ich mir eine heraldische Cotehardie machen und - da mein Mann nun an seinem Familienschild bastelt, fange ich auch endlich damit an. Eine Cotehardie ist ein modisches Gewand um 1350, mit eher tiefem Halsausschnitt, sehr engen Ärmeln (entweder bis zum Ellbogen geknöpft oder geschnürt) und bis zur Taille auch sehr eng, entweder vorne mit Knöpfen oder im Rücken mit Schnürung. Auf jeder Seite der Front waren zudem oft senkrechte Schlitze angebracht, durch die man die Hände halten konnte, sei es um den Geldbeutel zu erreichen oder das Kleid zum laufen etwas zu heben. Häufig waren diese Kleider heraldisch gemustert und so eine will ich mir nun eben machen - in den Farben unseres Familienwappens (rot und weiss) und mit dem Schwert als Stickerei, das wir im Wappen tragen. So wird es ungefähr aussehen - und es wird aus feiner Wolle sein    Since a long time I wanted to make a heraldic cotehardie and now I finally will start cause my man is working on his familiy-shield. A cotehardie is a fashionable dress around 1350 with a rather low neck and very narrow on the forearm, either buttoned or laced up to the ellbow. The garment fitted the figure as far as the hips, either laced in the back or buttoned in the front. At each side of the front there were often perpendicular openings through wich the hands could be passed to reach the purse or to raise the skirt while walking. A lot of this skirts were with heraldic decorations and one of this I gonna make now. In the colours of our family coat of arms (red and white) and with the sword as embroidery, which we have to in the coat of arms. Above you see how it will look approximatly - it will be out of fine wool
